BLVN Reflects on Peace and the Price of War

Hiroshima Day – 6th August 2026

The Social Science Department of BLVN observed Hiroshima Day on 6th August to commemorate the victims of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima in 1945 and to sensitise students to the devastating human consequences of war. The observance provided a thoughtful platform for learners to understand the historical significance of the day and reflect on the importance of peace, tolerance and peaceful coexistence.

Through age-appropriate discussions and awareness activities, the students explored how conflicts and wars can have far-reaching consequences for individuals, communities and generations. The programme encouraged them to value human life and understand the importance of resolving differences through dialogue, empathy and mutual understanding.

The Social Science Department used the occasion not merely to revisit a historical event, but to connect history with the responsibilities of the present. Students were encouraged to become ambassadors of peace by practising kindness, respect, cooperation and non-violence in their everyday lives.

The observance concluded with a powerful message: remembering the past is essential to building a more peaceful future.
