BLVN Remembers History, Celebrates the Spirit of Freedom

The Social Science Department of BLVN observed Nagasaki Day and Kranti Diwas on 10th August, bringing together two significant historical occasions that inspire reflection on peace, freedom and human resilience.

Nagasaki Day commemorates the atomic bombing of Nagasaki in 1945 and serves as a solemn reminder of the devastating consequences of war. Through age-appropriate awareness and discussion, students reflected on the value of human life, peace and peaceful coexistence, understanding why conflicts must be resolved through dialogue and mutual understanding.

The observance also marked Kranti Diwas, commemorating the launch of the Quit India Movement in 1942. Students revisited the historic call of “Do or Die” and learnt about the courage and determination of countless Indians who participated in the freedom struggle. The day provided an opportunity to appreciate the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and understand the significance of India’s hard-won independence.

By bringing these two themes together, the SST Department encouraged students to view history not merely as a collection of dates and events, but as a source of values and lessons for the present. The programme highlighted the importance of peace, courage, freedom, unity and responsible citizenship, inspiring young learners to contribute towards a harmonious and democratic society.
